Your Appointment at our Practice
A child’s first visit to a dentist should be simple and fun. We like to introduce children to the dentist as young as 2 years old. Yes, there is not much that we can do inside the mouth at this age, but we can get them used to what a visit to the dentist is like. We have 2 female Dental Therapists who will take them for a ‘ride’ on our dental chair and introduce them to our equipment. This type of first visit is designed to lessen anxiety in future appointments. Our Dental Therapists specialise in treating children and enjoy making dental visits as fun as possible.
Most children’s dentistry is preventative. We like to promote good oral hygiene as early as possible. Learning the correct methods of brushing and flossing early on helps to ensure that it continues throughout life.
Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS)
At the moment there is also an incentive called the Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS). This scheme provides a benefit for basic dental services up to $1000.00 over a 2 calendar year period. CDBS has a means test, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or a relevant Australian Government payment. It is available to children Australia-wide aged 2-17 years that fall into this category.
The CDBS provides individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
Our practice accepts the CDBS and does not charge anything over this (providing there is adequate balance available).
